Design and Display of POCO C55
It’s pretty much the same design as the brand’s older phones, but POCO’s gone a bit different with the C55. It has a double-tone back with a big black cutout around the camera. The back is faux leather with a vertical seam in the middle and a textured finish, but it’s only on the back panel. The edges are smooth and you might find them a bit slippery. It’s lightweight, but it’s not too heavy either. I found it easy to hold and use for a long time. The right spine has the volume and power buttons, but the feedback could be better. The top edge has a 3.5 mm headphone jack, and the bottom edge has a speaker grill and a Micro-USB port for charging and transferring data. On the left side is the SIM tray with a microSD slot.
The screen measures 6.71 inches and has an HD+ resolution. The waterdrop notch is present on the back of the device. It is an average budget display with an LCD panel. The bezels are large and the screen has a standard refresh rate of 60Hz. The screen works well across apps and the user interface.
Cameras of POCO C55
The POKO C55 is equipped with dual rear cameras, with a primary sensor having a 50MP resolution and a depth sensor having a depth of 0.8μm. In daylight, the sensor is quick to focus, resulting in detailed images with good colour accuracy. Auto HDR is not enabled, but can be enabled via the camera layout, and the HDR shots appear to have sufficient dynamic range and exposure level. However, the details surrounding the shadows are of poor quality. In low light, the phone’s performance is not bad, but not great, with ample noise. The portrait mode is effective when exposed to the sun, and offers good edge detection, resulting in an effect that appears natural. The front camera is 5MP, and produces hazy images for selfies and video calls, with facial details that are closer to the reality of the face. However, the skin tones are muted at times.

Storage and Connectivity of POCO C55
The POCO C50 is powered by a MediaTek G85 SoC, which is paired with 4GB/6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of user-level storage. It does not offer an exceptional performance, but it does suffice. Apps are launched quickly and games such as Bubble Shooter and 2048 are playable without any hiccups. Subway Surfer is also playable. The device is capable of loading graphically intensive games such as Free Fire Max or Call of Duty, however, the overall experience is not great.
Software-wise, the device runs on a slightly outdated Android 12 build, and MIUI 13 is already present. The manufacturer has promised a MIUI 14 update, however, it is unclear whether this update will also include Android 13. Connectivity options include dual-band WIFI support, Bluetooth connectivity, 4G LTE connectivity, dual SIM standby, and loud bottom-firing speakers with a slight crackle at maximum volume.
Battery Life of POCO C55
The POCO C55 is equipped with a 5000mAh battery that is capable of charging at 10W. Charging from nothing takes longer than three hours. However, once the battery is fully charged, users do not need to charge the handset until the end of their day. As the C55 is not intended to be used for intensive gaming, it can go up to a full day without needing to be recharged. In a PC Mark battery calculation of 3.0, the handset achieved a satisfactory result of 14 hours, 43 minutes.
POCO C55
POCO C55 seems like a good choice for buyers who don't mind a slightly out-dated OS (Android 12) paired with slow 10W charging through micro-USB. It's got a nice build and is powerful enough to handle everyday use. The screen, camera, and battery are all good too. So if you're on a tight budget and don't want to spend more than Rs 10,000 on a smartphone, then this is definitely worth checking out.
